BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN AND TEAM LEADERSHIP

UGA Graphic
Design Club.

The Graphic Design Club at the University of Georgia fell defunct during the COVID Pandemic in 2020. By the time I entered the program in 2022, there was a growing interest in reinstituting the club amongst the students.

I reestablished the Graphic Design Club by working closely with university administration to re-register the organization, recruit members, and re-launch the club’s operations. I recruited, hired, and managed the club’s executive board, establishing clear roles and responsibilities for each of them.

I designed the club logo and directed the brand identity system including color palette, typography, visual elements, social tone of voice, and visual style ensuring consistency across all materials and communications. I’ve led strategic planning and execution of club events, including organizing and hosting monthly design workshops and industry guest speaker events.

Role: Founder, Club President, and Lead Graphic Designer

Logo Design.

The concept began with the intention to craft a logo that embodies the energy of design. The asterisk represents “the spark of inspiration” that’s the core of every creative idea and design execution. Orange represents determination, encouragement, creativity, and expression – the perfect match for our purpose as a club.

From there, the logo began to take form, bringing the spirit of the Graphic Design Club to life.

Social Media.

We launched our social channels with two main goals in mind. First, to recruit new members with open invitations to any fairs or meetings around campus. Second, to keep our members informed about any upcoming events, meetings, and guest speakers.

Club Events.

I lead our team in planning events and workshops that keep members active and engaged with the club. By reaching out to alumni and industry experts to speak at our events, we foster valuable connections and insights that strengthen our community.

We offer monthly workshops featuring activities such as branding exercises, collaging, and graphic design challenges, fostering creativity and collaboration in a experimental setting.

Hilda Hermosillo, a UGA Graphic Design alumni, and Rey Pîna from SCUF Gaming came to speak on November 21. They each shared a bit of their previous work experience leading up to some of the advertising, digital design, packaging design, and social content they produce for SCUF.
